DISCOVER YOUR DOSHA

Before the Garden

Most mornings, before I step outside, before my hands find the roses, I begin at the sink.

A gentle cleanse. A few quiet minutes. The scent of something botanical rising in the steam. By the time I reach the garden, my skin has already been tended. The roses and the rosehip. The morning dew and the moisture I pressed into my face in the half-dark. Nature outside. Nature on my skin. The same intelligence, the same source.

I grew up with this. In Kerala, Ayurveda was not a wellness trend. It was simply life. The understanding that what you put on your body and what you put in it are part of the same conversation. I carried that knowing through every chapter – the kitchen, the cookbooks, the garden. It never left me.

The practice begins with understanding your true nature. Your prakriti. In Ayurveda, that blueprint is expressed through three forces – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. One tends to lead. When you recognize it, something quietly shifts. You stop fighting your skin and start understanding it.

Read slowly. This is not a quiz. It is a mirror.

Vata – Air & Space

Restless, creative, always in motion. Vata people feel everything – the change of seasons, the shift in a room. Quick-thinking, imaginative, and sometimes too busy to eat.

In your skin – dryness, fine lines that arrive early, a complexion that glows when nourished and dulls when neglected. Vata skin thirsts.

What it needs – warmth, richness, deep nourishment. Something that says: you can stop now. Let something good soak in.

Pitta – Fire & Water

A flame that burns steady and bright. Purposeful. Pitta people get things done – focused, warm, precise, and prone to pushing too hard.

In your skin – sensitivity, redness that flares with heat or stress, a luminous complexion that tips toward reactive when the fire runs too hot.

What it needs – cooling, calming. Something that says: nothing to prove here. Let the heat go.

Kapha – Earth & Water

The ground after a long slow rain. Settled, rich, deeply nourishing. Kapha people are steady, loyal, and deeply comforting to everyone around them.

In your skin – natural dewiness with a tendency toward congestion and puffiness. Slow to react, slow to age, and extraordinarily beautiful when open and clear.

What it needs – invigoration, awakening. Something that says: rise. Let the light in.

Come, Sit Softly

You may have recognized yourself in one. Or two. Most of us are a blend.

This is why the dosha consultation at Aamra is not a form in a waiting room. It is a conversation – unhurried, personal, over a pot of tea. Your skin cannot be understood in a checkbox. It has to be listened to.

Book your Aamra experience at Tulip & Tea, Conyers, Georgia.
Each visit is 90 minutes – from first sip to last bite.
